Student Selection Process
We use 3 to 4 criteria in selecting students to be involved with Title 1 groups. We collect data from the previous school year. Students are then ranked using all available data and selected by the Title 1 teacher based on those in greatest need. Parents may refuse services, but they must provide a letter stating they no longer want their child to receive Title 1 services. The letter will be kept in the Title 1 files.

RtI - Reponse to Instruction
The RtI program goes hand in hand with Title 1. Students that are still struggling with academics or behavior may need more intervention than Title 1 can provide. A committee meets every Wed. to discuss concerns with students that are struggling in their classroom. The members of the meeting are the Elementary Principal, School Counselor, Title 1 Teacher, RtI Teacher, School Psychologist, and the Classroom Teacher. We discuss concerns and strategies to help students succeed. In Tier 2, students will see the RtI teacher 3 times a week to work on targeted skills discussed by the committee. The student will be assessed on these skills bi-weekly. In Tier 3, students will see the RtI teacher as well as the Title 1 teacher 5 times a week to work on targeted skills discussed by the committee. The student will be assessed on these skills weekly. After each Tier, parents are notified of their child's progress. Each Tier lasts 6 to 7 weeks to help students succeed. If skills have not improved over this period of time, the principal will notify parents of the next step.
